Good result of a swimming pool painting greatly depends on the location, construction and good quality of the concrete used.
Algae growth depends on the right water purifying system.
Thick coats of TITAN Paint for Swimming Pools may lead to solvent retention. This may cause stains or whitish areas on the surface, especially when painting on aged paints.
TITAN Paint for Swimming Pools has a decorative function. In order to prevent blistering or delamination, moist will have to be able to get through the paint film. Therefore, 2 coats of TITAN Paint for Swimming Pools in new paint works and 1 coat for maintenance will usually be enough.
BARE SURFACES:
Bare new concrete swimming pools: After the construction of the swimming-pool, two months have to elapse before painting, so that concrete can be completely cured. Surfaces have to be treated with a mixture of 1 part of hydrochloric acid and 3 - 4 parts of water. Flush (high pressure water) and leave at least 48 hours to dry.
Apply by brush a first coat thinned with 10% TITAN Thinner for Swimming Pool Paints. Apply one or two unthinned coats of TITAN Paint For Swimming Pools.
Bare old swimming pools: Wash with a mixture of 1 Kg of sodium phosphate with 10 litres water, or with a water solution containing 5% powder detergent. Remove moulds and grease by a hard-hemp brush. Rinse with fresh water and paint as stated above for bare new swimming pools.
Polyester fibre swimming pools: Sand and degrease. Apply 1 coat of TITAN YATE Anticorrosive Epoxy Primer. After 24 hours, finish with 2 coats of TITAN Paint for Swimming Pools.
MAINTENANCE OF PREVIOUSLY COATED SURFACES IN POOR CONDITION:
Remove paint coats in poor condition,. If the damaged surface is large, remove old paints by sand blasting. Wash the surface with trisodium phosphate or with a water solution containing 5% powder detergent. Thoroughly rinse with clean water and proceed as for new swimming pools. When old paint coats cannot be thoroughly removed by blasting or stripping procedures, apply a full coat of TITAN YATE Anticorrosive Epoxy Primer in order to seal the surface and homogenize absorption. After 24 hours, apply coat of TITAN Paint for Swimming Pools
